I'm officially over the half-way mark in the Fall 2021 One Room Challenge - woo-hoo! What I thought would have been completed in week one finally happened this week. My naive self thought I would be able to just take down the existing vanity lights and pop two new ones up. I also thought I'd be able to just remove the old vanity top and set the new one in place. Hahahahahaha. Weeks and several bruises (emotionally and physically) later...those two items are finally marked off the list!

As a reminder, when I removed the old light fixtures (see below) the light boxes weren't centered and had to be moved. I had two giant holes to patch. When we put on the new vanity top (dad helped me because that sucker is heavy!) the new sinks weren't aligned over the old ones and we had to cut out a portion of the center over the middle drawer.

It was also way past time to say goodbye to that dated purple and to reveal the new color - blush pink! I love it so much and it completely changes the feel of the room. Mom is going to love it. Speaking of mom...part of the reason I wanted to do this blog challenge was to document her progress. She got to stop one part of her chemo 4 weeks ago and we are hoping that gets her feeling better soon and allows her to start eating. Today was Halloween and we always go to my sister's house to let the kids trick-or-treat and mom and dad hang back to pass out candy. We were praying she got to come to spend time with the kids and she did! It was so great having them there like normal :) She even wore a read Annie wig and went as "Granny Annie"...adorable!

I might be sweaty and tired, but the progress pic below makes me so happy. The hard work is paying off! I'm not the only one busting my tail to get this room finished by the 8-week deadline...don't forget to follow along with all of the other amazing participants at www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog. There are some amazing transformations happening!
